Brazilian football match delayed after swarm of bees took up residence on crossbar

A swarm of bees caused a Brazilian football league match to be delayed by 15 minutes on Saturday after taking up residence on the crosssbar.

Firemen were called to deal with the situation inside the Moisés Lucarelli Stadium with kick-off looming and Ponte Preta preparing to take on Atletico Sorocaba.

But it was down to two bee keepers to cope with the incident as they used fire, smoke and chemicals to remove the insects from the framework before taking them away in a big black bag.

The area was then cleansed with petrol before the match could get under way.
